Walkable West Bluff needs volunteers
We need to get serious about organizing our Labor Day Weekend Street Fair on August 31, 2008 in conjunction with Running Central and the Nike+ Human Race 10K! The race is part of a Nike campaign to have the largest athletic event in history, with people running 10Ks around the world on August 31st! Check out the link:

We are talking with the Renaissance Park Commission and the West Bluff Council about co-sponsoring the street fair to create a fabulous showcase for the West Bluff community (music, art, dancing lessons, food, children’s activities, etc.).

We will be having an initial Street Fair planning meeting Tuesday, June 10 at 7pm at 1024 N. Elmwood Ave. (Jennifer Brady’s house). A table is attached with notes about the committees we think we need, the number of people we might need for each committee, and some preliminary contact information. Please take a look and let us know what committee you would like to work on and/or if you will be available to help on the day of the event. We have about 2 weeks to form a solid set of committees and establish the scale of this event before we need to move forward with scheduling and advertising. If we can get a list of 15 or 20 people committed to offering a few hours a week over the course of the next few months (plus a good number of volunteers for the day of the event) we could pull off something pretty great.
We need two kinds of volunteers to make this event successful:
1) People to devote a few hours a week over the next couple of months to help with planning (a good option for anyone with other plans Labor Day weekend)
2) People to volunteer on the day of the event to help with troubleshooting, logistics, emergencies, clean-up, etc. (a good option for anyone too busy this summer but available on August 31st)
Come out and pitch in!
